14/7/10 - Sallins v Straffan
The evening turned cold very quick after this match began. There was no clear dominant team in the beginning, both gave 100%. Straffan were good on the defence thanks to Shane and Kevin Fox. Adrian Wasson was in goals again and made some brilliant saves. The first goal camr from Straffan on the first half when Vinny Mc Carty passed the ball in and Barry Kilduff put it in the back of the net. It wasn't long however before Sallins got their equaliser. Straffan were now trying their best to score a second goal before half time but it was sallins who got there first and the score at half time was 2 - 1 Sallins. In the second half Straffan were getting desperate. Their desperation ended when a free kick taken by Kevin Fox went straight into the box and Gordon Mc Crea headed the ball in and scored Straffans second goal. Now that the scores were even both teams were trying to get the winning goal before full time. Sallins had some great attempts but were no match for Ian and Fergal Barry as well as Vinny Mc Carty in which all 3 players played brilliant. Now time was running out and it was 50/50. But it was Straffan who got there in the end when Fergal Barry took a cornor kick, hit it straight into the centre of the box and it was Vinny Mc Carty who got the last touch scoring the winning goal. In the end the final score was Sallins 2 - 3 Straffan

5/7/10 - Kildare Town v Straffan a.f.c
This time when Straffan met Kildare Town they were on Kildare's territory but Straffan were not gona let this fact effect them even though Kildare beat them last time on Straffan's home grounds. The game begun with Straffan taking over straight away and Kildare telling them to back off. The first goal came from Straffan after 18 minutes when Ian Barry crossed the ball in and Gordon Mc Crea got the last touch and put the ball in the net. This then put pressure on Kildare to score an equaliser before half time. They got this oppertunity when Straffan gave away a stupid penalty in the 40th minute in which Kildare scored leaving the score at half time 1-1. It wasn't long into the second half when Straffan scored their second goal. Vinny Mc Carty went to cross the ballin but it ended up breaking away. Just when Straffan thought their chance was gone Barry Kilduff came in and buried it in the back of the net. Kildare were now getting desperate to even the score. In the 56th, not long after scoring their second goal, Straffan scored their third goal. Lee Hulsmen, who was subbed on at half time for John O Connor who came off injured, set up the ball for Vinny Mc Carty to score the third goal. Of all the Straffan players 7 of them deserve a mention. Shane Fox played exceptionally well in the back with some great defending and great passes up to mid field. All the mid field played super including Ian Barry, Shane Mc Namara, Robert Stanley and Gordon Mc Crea. This game also seen Adrian Wasson in goals again but it was the right decision as he made some amazing saves and definitally should be proud of himself. In the end the final score was Kildare Town 1 Straffan A.F.C 3

27/6/10 - Kingstown v Staffan
Game got off to a great start for both teams but it was clear after the first few minutes that Straffan were the stronger team. Kngstown gave as much as they took and have to be given credit for that. Straffan had some near goals including a free kick from Kevin Fox which almost resulted in a goal but Gordon Mc crea just didn't get to put it in the net. Kingstown had some great attempts but couldn't get it past Straffan goal keeper John Liston. It seemed that this game was gona be a nil - all draw until the 87th minute when Fergal Barry crossed the ball into the box and Vinny Mc carty got the last touch and headed it into the back of the net. The scoe was now 1-0 to Straffan and it seemed all was lost for kigstown when they scored their equalliser in the 91st minute causing the game to go into extra time. Even the spectators could feel the tension. Time was running out for both teams but neither managed to score a winning goal. Extra time finished with the score being kingstown 2 Straffan 2 and it was on to penalties. The 5 penalty takers for Straffan were; Richie Smith Shane Mc Namara Vinny Mc Carty Fergal Barry Barry Kilduff Richie Smith stepped up to take the first penalty and buried it in the back of the net as did Shane Mc Namara and Vinny Mc Carty. Kingstown failed to score any penalties thanks to John Liston who saved those penalties so effortlessly. Several Straffan players deserve a mention for their brialliant preformances. Shane Mc Namara totally controlled the mid field. Colin Sweeny played a blinder after coming on as a sub for Kevin Fox who came off injured. Richie Smith and Lee Hulsmen worked well together in the back and made a great team. Vinny Mc carty stood firm in the front winning several balls and having some great attempts. Also a mention to John Liston who made some amazing saves especially in the penalties. Kingstown were worthy opponents but it wasn't meant to be for them and they lost to Straffan in penalties with the final score being Straffan 3 - 0 Kingstown

9/6/10 - Straffan v Congorry
It was a cold windy evening for this match. A slow start for both teams with a few good attempts on both sides. Gordon Mc Crea, Vinny Mc Carty and Fergal Barry played a blinder. Then one of the Straffan lads was fowled which resulted in a penalty taken by Richie Smith. This then became Straffans second goal. 2/6/10 - Straffan v Carragh Celtic
Even though this was a mid-week game and in the evening their was still great weather for it. Straffan strated off as the dominant team, gong strong on the defence and had some great attempts against Carragh. This was to end when Carragh scored after 25 minutes in the first half. Several straffan lads deserve a mention including Robert Stanley, Kevin Fox, Adrian Wasson, Shane Fox, Shane Mc Namara and Gordon Mc Crea. Shane Fox gave Carragh a run for thier money while Robert Stanley and Kevin Fox terrorised the mid-field. Gordon Mc Crea was great in the back keeping the ball away from the goals along with Adrian Wasson. Shane Mc Namara had some good shots but unfortunitally didn't make it past the Carragh goal keeper. In the end the final score was Straffan 0 - 1 Carragh Celtic

30 May 2010 - Straffan v Kildare Town
It was a nice sunny warm day for the match against Kildare Town. Start of the game seemed promising but then slowly went down hill for our own boys. But it was not all doom and gloom. Several of the Straffan lads played excepionally well, to name a few Adrain Wasson, Barry Kilduff and Fergal Barry. Also there were some brillaint saves by goal keeper Mick Mc Cabe. Fergal Barry terrorised Kildare Towns defence while Barry Kilduff gave it his all with great attempts. Michael Murphy, who came on as a sub in the second half for Barry Kilduff, played really well and had some good attempts himself. Sadly this wasn't enough for Straffan and ended up losing 2-0 to Kildare Town.
